Mondelez Owned KJS.com in Pending Delete Status

Mondelez International, Inc. is a massive publicly traded company (MLDZ on Nasdaq). The company owns a variety of brands such as Cadbury, Nabisco, Halls, Trident, and many other popular food and beverage brands. Mondelez has a market capitalization of around $88 billion.

On the homepage of NameJet under the top dropping domain names section, KJS.com is listed at the top. On the page promoting the upcoming auction, the listing type is Pending Delete. Whois records at DomainTools show that the domain name expired on May 23, 2021, and it is in pending delete status:

A historic Whois record from DomainTools that was recorded this past April shows the registrant of KJS.com was Mondelez International, Inc. Archive.org shows limited usage of the KJS.com domain name over the years, as the domain name forwarded to the Mondelez website. Several years ago in 2012, the domain name was registered to Kraft Food International, which was a precursor to Mondelez, according to Wikipedia. Even as far back as 2004, KJS.com was used as a forwarder (to Kraft.com).

While it would appear that Mondelez International did not really use KJS.com, it is still a bit peculiar to see a company like this let a domain name delete. My bet is it will sell for mid to high five figures in auction. The domain name has been registered at corporate registrar CSC. Mondelez would have been better off contracting with CSC to broker the domain name rather than letting it expire where a third party will profit from the sale.
