Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Monday, June 28th, 2021

Do you use cruise control? I prefer to drive my car. I feel like if I’m going to go 80 miles an hour that its in my best interest to be able to slow down, speed up, and react instantly to anything that comes up. That goes for long trips. Certainly there have been times in open roads with little to no cars that I’ll give my right leg a rest. My butt and leg can get crampy on a 12-13 hr drive. But for the most part, I’m foot on the pedal, hands on the wheel driving of my car.

My wife? If there’s 50 feet of straight road she’s setting cruise control. She dreams of a Tesla driving her everywhere. Her reaction time is measured in seconds and we’ll drive 10 miles with a car directly across from us because they are elephant racing with two cruise controls set to the exact same speed. The only reason the cars end up parting is because one engine struggles with the hills more than the other. Add in the sudden slowing of the car as she hits the brake and drops the cruise. Almost impossible to work because you’re not sure if it’s a driving adjustment or we’re about to go off a bridge.

I feel like a car should have a little light on the back window that lights up if cruise control is on. That way I know to stay clear of that driver if there are a lot of cars around. What they’re gaining in efficiency, I’m losing in the “I didn’t see you” almost accident. The new cars actually break or change lanes with accident avoidance technology and it’s pretty incredible. No doubt it will save lives and accidents. It will probably also give people a false sense of security. Knowing they will be bailed out if they make a mistake. And they will which is a good thing. I on the other hand will keep driving my cars and keep the tech in my pocket. Use it in an emergency instead of using it to eat a Chipotle chicken bowl
