Tilt.com: A 1994 #domain in James Booth’s lap
Tilt.com, a domain registered in 1994 and a former asset of Airbnb, is now in the possession of domain investor and overall fun guy, James Booth.
The busy Briton broker shared the news via twitter, announcing the acquisition of Tilt.com:
“Very happy to announce the acquisition of – Tilt.com Company was acquired by Airbnb”
Founded in 2012, Tilt (formerly Crowdtilt) was a crowdfunding company that allowed for groups and communities to collect, fundraise, or pool money online. In 2017, Airbnb acquired Tilt for $12 million dollars in cash as an acqui-hire, since the business was never profitable but had some talented employees. Airbnb retired the Tilt platform in June 2017. The acquisition of Tilt.com by James comes on the heels of Andy Booth’s smooth acquisition of Velvet.com.
Both domains are super premium, one word .com’s and no information regarding their acquisition cost was released.
