George Kirikos published a lengthy article on FreeSpeech.com about the ICANN public comment period for the domain name transfer policy review. George also submitted a comment on behalf of his company on the ICANN website.
One of the reasons I am a member of the Internet Commerce Association (ICA) is because I rely on their advocacy on behalf of domain investors. The ICA participates in ICANN discussions, and I believe their submissions hold more weight than an individual submission I would make. In addition, I believe the ICA is more knowledgable about various ICANN policy-related topics and can provide more comprehensive commentary than I could.
This afternoon, Zak Muscovitch shared that the ICA submitted a comment regarding the domain transfer policy. You can review the entire comment that was submitted by the ICA. The summary of the submission is as follows:
“The Internet Commerce Association expresses its gratitude to the Transfer Policy Working Group for its diligent, thoughtful, and timely Interim Report. The Transfer Policy obviously presents complex issues which are challenging to navigate, and on the whole we support the Proposals made in the Interim Report. Nevertheless, we do have some significant concerns regarding particular Proposals within the Interim Report which we ask the Working Group to continue to thoughtfully explore after taking into account all Public Comments.”
It looks like the submission deadline has been extended to August 16th. People who wish to provide a comment about the transfer policy review may do so on the ICANN website.
