Last week, Hilco Digital’s Andrew Miller shared that he and Larry Fischer brokered the sale of the Chat.com domain name. Andrew mentioned that it was “the most significant domain asset transaction in our combined 50+ years investing in and advising on premium domain names.”

Given their involvement in the 2021 sale of Home.com coupled with the extraordinary value of Chat.com, my assumption has been that Chat.com sold for 8 figures ($10 million or more).
This morning, Thorsten tweeted that Chat.com was acquired by Dharmesh Shah, Co-Founder of Hubspot:

I reached out directly to Dharmesh, and he confirmed that this was a personal acquisition that was not done on behalf of HubSpot. Dharmesh wouldn’t share the acquisition price with me, but he told me the domain name was purchased for 8 figures. You may recall that HubSpot acquired Connect.com for $10 million in 2022.
Following the news of the acquisition, Dharmesh published some comments about his acquisition on LinkedIn. Notably, Dharmesh said “is the most expensive domain name transaction I’ve ever been involved with.” Given the $10 million acquisition of Connect.com, it seems obvious that he paid more than $10 million to acquire Chat.com:
